Keybotic in 2023: Our Year in Recap

About to welcome 2024, there is no better time to look back and take a moment to celebrate the hard work of everybody involved in Keybotic during the last year. Take a walk with us through the main highlights of 2023!
Keyper’s official debut amongst the world’s top tech leaders
The year started with a very exciting moment for all of us at Keybotic: our autonomous robot dog for industrial inspections, Keyper, made its official debut in society surrounded by all the top tech leaders worldwide at the best possible scenario –the Mobile World Congress in our hometown, Barcelona!
Over 25K attendants from all over the world were able to see Keyper in action and admire its autonomous robotic technology, previously recognized with the first prize at the DARPA Robotics Challenge.
Boosting growth and fueling innovation
Less than three years into Keybotic’s history as a company, we were very proud to announce last April that we had secured €3 million in funding to step up commercialization efforts in a round led by key family offices in the Spanish Industrial and Tech sectors.
In the words of our CEO, Irene Gómez Alemany, “This latest funding round validates our RaaS business model and gives us the financial muscle to continue growing in strategic sectors for the company. This boost supports us to grow Keyper’s potential, and allows us to increase production capacity to enter a new phase of commercialization of our robot dog, as well as to expand our client list in the industrial sector.”
Carburos Metálicos and Keybotic automate maintenance rounds

In June, Carburos Metálicos, one of Spain’s main chemical producers, became the first company to integrate Keybotic’s robotic technology in its facilities.
Since its deployment, our autonomous robot dog, Keyper, has been performing maintenance rounds at the Carburos Metálicos facilities, collecting, recording, and analyzing all those parameterizable data of significance for safety improvement: thermographs, detection and reading of pressure gauges and meters, sound analysis of motors and equipment, as well as performing a 3D mapping of the entire environment.
For Miquel López, general manager of Carburos Metálicos, “With this pioneering initiative in the industry, we are anticipating the future. Keyper, the most advanced robot of its kind in the world, will allow us to enhance the control capacity of the plant’s operating parameters and its direct application in safety and predictive maintenance. This is not only important for Carburos Metálicos, but it is a great advance for the entire chemical sector.”
An award recognizing the benefits of Keybotic’s autonomous robotic technology for the mining industry
One of our proudest moments of 2023: in October, our robot dog, Keyper, was chosen (amongst more than 100 other solutions!) to be awarded the first prize in the “Innovations Taking Off” category of this year’s PERUMIN Hub Awards.
Organized by Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas del Perú and Hub de Innovación Minera del Perú, PERUMIN Hub is Peru’s main open innovation program seeking solutions to the biggest challenges of the mining sector through collaborative innovation.
In the words of the jury members, Keybotic deserved this award because “it is groundbreaking and extremely relevant since it solves a serious problem in underground mines. It could become a standard for the industry.” Another one of the jury members highlighted that Keyper “is innovative, representing a step towards the autonomy of mobile equipment underground, solves a relevant problem, and has great potential to scale to other applications.” Finally, a third one mentioned that️ “it doesn’t only add value to operations but strengthens safety in underground mining“.
This award demonstrates the benefits of our autonomous robotic technology for the mining industry, where it can reduce downtime and increase sites’ productivity while minimizing human exposure to HSE risks.
Growing our numbers with top talent

During the past year, we grew Keybotic exponentially by doubling our number of employees, reaching a total of 14 by December 2023. While most of the growth has taken place in our R+D team, we have also reinforced the company’s Business side by adding new members to the Sales and Marketing departments.
We couldn’t be happier to see all this top talent joining Keybotic and jumping at the chance to serve our customers by continuously developing the most advanced autonomous robotic solutions for industrial inspections in the market!
