Keybotic raises a €3M investment round
Human’s best friends, dogs, have for centuries been trained to help us, from serving as guide dogs for the visually impaired and helping people with anxiety, to being trained for search and rescue and beyond. Now, they are also helping to make industrial maintenance and inspection autonomous – well, their robot counterpart is.
Barcelona-based startup Keybotic has developed an autonomous robot dog that can carry out industrial maintenance and inspection checks. Keybotic has just secured €3 million to step up commercialization efforts in a round led by key family offices in Spain’s industrial and tech sectors.
Irene Gómez, co-founder and CEO: “We are very happy with this latest funding round as it validates our RaaS business model and gives us the financial muscle to continue growing in strategic sectors for the company. We would like to thank our investors for their support and confidence. This boost supports us to grow Keyper’s potential and allows us to increase production capacity to enter a new phase of commercialization of our robot dog, as well as to expand our client list in the industrial sector.”
Founded in 2020, Keybotic designs and develops robot dogs that can detect incidents like gas leaks, read industrial instruments, and send alerts in real-time about anomalies and dangers. Thanks to the interpretation of data, Keybotic digitizes industrial plants and makes it possible to predict and detect incidents.
This allows industrial companies to become safer and more productive, whilst minimizing risk to personnel. The robot dog inspects industrial plants without the need for human interaction, carrying out security and maintenance observations in complex environments.
It sends alerts about any incidents it finds and offers images to a centralized control platform.
The robot was awarded 1st place in the American DARPA Robotic Challenge and now works with notable clients like Carburos Metálicos, BASF, and Barcelona Fire Fighters (Bombers de Barcelona).
With this new funding, the Barcelona team plans to finalize the production of Keyper to supply the chemical and security sectors, as well as the oil and gas and mining industries.
