Another milestone during this time was the development of cybernetics, a field focusing on the interaction between humans and machines. Researchers began exploring how machines could be designed to mimic biological systems, leading to more sophisticated control systems in robots.

By the 1970s, robots had revolutionized manufacturing, especially in industries like automotive production. Robots were able to work faster, more accurately, and for longer periods than humans, drastically reducing manufacturing costs and improving product quality. Unimate and other industrial robots were adopted by various industries for tasks like welding, painting, and assembling, marking the beginning of the robot revolution in manufacturing.

One of the most profound applications of robotics has been in space exploration. The use of robotic probes and rovers enabled humanity to explore distant planets without risking human lives. NASA’s Mars rovers, for example, have provided critical data on the Martian surface, expanding our understanding of the planet. Robotic systems such as Curiosity and Perseverance have autonomously navigated challenging terrain, exemplifying how robotics can extend human reach beyond Earth.

These robots automate inspection and maintenance tasks, collecting environmental data and triggering alerts when necessary.
